Colombian music reflects the diversity of the Caribbean, Andean, Pacific, Amazonian and eastern plains regions. Cumbia developed on the Caribbean coast from interactions between African, indigenous and European populations, centred on drums, gaitas and singing. Vallenato, also Caribbean, traditionally uses the accordion, the caja and the guacharaca and includes several rhythms, including paseo, merengue, puya and son. Afro-Colombian currulao from the Pacific, Andean bambuco, Cartagena champeta and joropo from the Llanos complete this landscape. Colombian pop, reggaeton and urban music now enjoy worldwide reach, alongside local traditions.
